It’s that time of the month, when people start their “back to school” preparations. What better way then to start with a beauty bag that ups your mood and brightens your days. Ipsy “Prep School” August Glam Bag aims to to just that!!!
My Ipsy August Glam Bag “Prep School” included the following:
Briogeo Blossom & Bloom Volumizing Blow Dry Spray – 30ml/1 oz ($3.50)
Yes another hair product, but I think summer and monsoon time demands more of hair care items than any other. What i like in this hair spray is that it contains ginseng and biotin, these ingredients help in hair growth and stimulation of blood flow to the scalp. Use it on damp hair, before blow dry, it gives good volume if you have thin and fine hair. Also the product is vegan friendly, gluten free and cruelty free!!! Oh and smells really nice. Highly recommended.
LATHER Ultra Mild Face Wash – 30 ml/ 1 oz ($3.17)
I must have mentioned before that I really like travel size cleansers. This one is specific to sensitive skin and smells really good. It’s sulfate and paraben – free!!!
Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in Elegantly Wasted – 15 ml/0.5 oz Full Size ($15)
Though I am not a big fan of lilac nail paints, I like the fact it is one of the quick drying and chip resistant nail enamels. Its free from toluene, formaldehyde, lead, nickel or phtalates. Bonus: it’s vegan and cruelty free and came as full size.
Hikari Lip Gloss in Merlot – 0.1 fl oz Full Size ($13)
I got a Hikari blush in one of my previous glam bags, and i really liked their product. This time it’s a gloss, also a full size. Merlot is a mauve-ish red shade looks more like berry/wine to me. Its intense, highly pigmented and has a lot of shine too. It’s a little sticky though. If you got a gloss from Hikari Cosmetics in this month’s bag it would either be Salsa (classic red) or Merlot (Intense red mauve).
Starlooks Luxe Longwear Eyeliner Pen in Black – 0.2 oz Full Size! ($19)
Another full size product, this felt tip eyeliner pen glides on smoothly, dries quickly and lasts for over 4-5 hrs. Its also available in two more shades- Brown and Eggplant (Deep Purple). I think they send out black mostly because its universally accepted.
The invite is for Generation Beauty By IPSY which will held on Oct 3-4, 2015 in New York City where you get a chance to meet Michelle Phan and other Ipsy Stylists. The invite contains a special offer if you buy your ticket before August 31 you get a 50% discount on your ticket. (Reg. Price $150)
First and foremost, I love this month’s bag, it’s so beautiful. The black and white combination is superb. It is by far my favorite Ipsy bag in terms of design. Coming to the products now, this month’s bag has 3 full size products and 2 travel size products. I found all the items really useful except for the nail color as I am not fond of lilac on my nails but I really liked rest of the stuff.
FNP Verdict: August “Prep School” Glam Bag contained pretty good stuff this month with 3 ful size items and valued at approx $54. I think it’s a great and an inexpensive way to try new products.
Was the bag worth 10$ for me? Yes, definitely worth the money!!!
FNP Rating: 4.2/5
